An intergalactic getaway

If you think Tahiti or the Bahamas are exotic destinations, wait until you see some of the other-worldly spots Galaxy Getaways wants to take you. The fictional travel agency, created by Disney to promote its Marvel's “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie, shows you what the universe has to offer in terms of the ultimate galactic vacation. Get ready for that trip to Knowhere!

Vacationers are welcomed to the faux company’s website by a Galaxy Getaways travel agent who explains the options for galactic travel. HTML5 was used to create realistic-looking destinations which users can explore thanks to Google Street View. Weather reports, travel quizzes and more help users plan their travel. Once a destination is chosen, Google Maps displays the locations for launch. Virtual travelers can share their trip plans and travel cards on Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

The interactive site received positive press from outlets such as "Fast Company," "Variety" and MTV, helping Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" become the top-grossing film of 2014 to date.
